In this video we are going to quickly take you through how to cook on a Flaming Coals Gas Smoker.

Firstly, fill the water bowl with water to help regulate the temperature of the smoker and catch any drippings. Once filled carefully slide it in to the smoker.

Secondly, fill the wood chip box with flavoured wood chips or pellets. These will heat up and give your meat it’s smokey flavour. Once filled, place the lid on the box and slide it in to the smoker.

Next up, make sure your gas bottle is connected with the hose to the smoker and the strap is secured to both the smoker and the gas bottle.

To get the smoker started, push in the dial and turn and hold it to begin the flow of gas. Press the igniter button until the element lights. Hold the dial in for a few more seconds to ensure the element stays lit.

Now that the smoker is lit, it’s time to get it up to the correct temperature. Close the doors and secure them with the latches. For this cook, we are going to get the temperature as close to 100 degrees Celsius as possible.

As this is the first cook on our smoker we are seasoning it in preparation. You will notice white smoke coming out of the vents after not too long which helps season the smoker. This smoker has 3 vents to control the release of smoke and heat during your cook.

We really wanted to load up the smoker for its initial voyage. You will notice beef ribs, lamb ribs and chicken wings. We have marinated these in a mixture of spices or you can use a pre-mixed rub. How you season your meats is entirely up to your own taste buds.

This cook took about 6 hours and we noticed the ribs were starting to soften up. Ideally we would have loved to have left it all in there for a little bit longer but it was getting late in the day and we were starving.

With all the excitement of eating those delicious meats don’t forget to turn off the smoker and turn off the valve on your gas bottle. The last thing you want is to waste gas before your next cook!
