I thought I was a slightly better than average BBQ grill master with my top of the line natural gas BBQ beast. The day the gas lines were installed the gas fitter said “Too bad you didn’t go with a pellet grill”! I was like hey pal I just spent $10,000 grand between you and the BBQ so this is going to be awesome. I certainly enjoyed it and it was ultra convenient but at the end of the day it was just OK, nothing I couldn’t do in an oven really except a lot messier. I finally broke down out of curiosity just to try it out on the condition I could return it. I got the Traeger. That was 6 months ago and I haven’t coooked on anything else since and I doubt I ever will. One of the best aspects is the wide variety of woods for different smoke flavors. You can end up with great flavor or you can make a real dud. I tried mesquite with Salmon, trust me don’t do it! Mesquite is red meat all the way. So far my favorite all around is maple. Cherry is great for that red Colour and that’s the fun of it. There are literally dozens of different woods to experiment with. Unlike gas BBQ’s there’s no gas flavour and you don’t need sugary, high calorie BBQ sauces to add flavour. Feel free to email me for any advice percyvonlipinski@gmail.com. If I get enough interest I might start a channel for all. Happy BBQing!
